Default "Tying together of loose ends" In Nightfall?

Ok, I'm fully aware that this is all speculation, but I'm pretty certain I remember reading somewhere that Nightfall will tie together the loose ends of Prophecies and Factions, or something along those lines anyway.

It struck me, what if this "tying together" means an absolue final mission of the current occurences that is only available to characters that have completed all three campaigns?

You might think they wouldn't sell you stuff that you can't do without having the other campaigns, but keep in mind they've added a load of Assassin and Ritualist skills, which unless you owned Factions as well as nightfall you couldn't access.

I just finished getting one of my characters through both of the current campaigns because I have a feeling there will be something.

Just wondering if people think I'm insane or if like me, you wouldn't put it past Anet.

I don't know if tying up the lose ends has any bearing on the game as a whole, but I am in the process of getting my favorite chars thru' Factions, so I can introduce them to Nightfall..this, to me, is a grind, because I hate (with a passion) the slum areas of Factions..if I had purchased Factions first, I don't think I would have continued with the game.
I am looking forward to Nightfall, and, hopefully, will have my 'well honed' Prophercies/Factions chars ready.

Nightfall is "an apocalypse", says Jeff Strain. "It's an endpoint." It will tie up some loose ends from Prophecy and Factions. But don't worry, Chapter 4 is in the works, and hints of what's to come can be found within Nightfall.

The plot line ties up the loose ends from the other campaigns; but its game mechanics (i.e. access to the final mission) are completely independant. Keep in mind it is a "stand-alone" game.

My theory is that this will bring an end to a lot of the problems we saw occur and answer a lot of questions with the new chapter(4) opening up a new story arch with no new proffessions just a hell of a lot of content.

There are some loose threads that I would really like closed before C4.
  1. How exactly did Khilbron destroy Orr? Is the Scepter of Orr a way of channelling the banished god's power? It would explain its power over the undead.
  2. What really happened in the Angsiyan/Shiro story?
  3. Who exactly are the Envoys?
I'm hoping for a substantial answer on #1 at least.

The best theory I've heard is that you'll fight the Lich and Shiro again in the Realm of Torment, right before Abaddon.

1. Khilbron destroyed Orr by reading forbidden scrolls. Ask the NPC in Hell's Precipice.

2. It doesn't matter. They both die, the Jade Wind happens. Big whoop.

3. See Factions manual.

1 and 3 both fall under lore. 2, as I said, no one cares.

Actually, I've always wondered about the Shiro story. I'd like to know what really happened.

I suspect Abbadon had something to do with what Shiro did. How can a guy who was the Emperor's most trusted bodyguard suddenly become his enemy?

So, uh, did you just ignore the Fortune Teller's dialogue?

Watch the Harvest Temple cutscene again (at Unwaking Waters).

That, sadly, is likely what ArenaNet means by "tying up the loose ends."

The Shiro story is not completely summed in the manual nor in in game cinematics. Perhaps the most pressing of which is why is Shiro an envoy? And why is he powerful with the ability to steal the essence of the emperor? And even if he did, who cares.. what's special about the emperor. On a more theoretical note, why don't all envoys do what Shiro did, who's looking out over them to make sure they are doing their job.

I expect the Vizier Khilbron affair with the staff to be cleaned up in Nightfall, like where did the scepter go at the end of Prophecies.

Being an Envoy is a punishment, they escort the dead to paradise, but never get to go themselves, for eternity. Shiro did bad things=Shiro becomes an Envoy.

Shiro presumably doesn't like being undead, despite being all powerful. I can see his point. Being a spirit, let alone an Envoy, probably isn't peachy. He tries to become mortal again, we kill him.

All pretty simple, I don't have a problem with any of that, but:

The question, methinks, is why the heck did half of Cantha turn to Jade and stone when he died? As far as I know he was just a regular body guard.... Maybe he just had a kickass Death Nova spell, but it still bugs me.

As far as Prophecies, most of the big stuff is tied up, but with a lot of holes they could fill if they so choose. None of it directly affects the storyline, though, even though they could answer a lot of questions. And Zinger is right about Khilbron. He tried to save Orr by reading a forbidden scroll and ended up blowing Orr to bits and turning himself into a complete jerk.

Hey, I care, and thats probably the #1 thing I hope they clarify in Nightfall, assuming they accualy do tie up lose ends somehow with a completely unrelated "stand alone"....

Oh, and my unrelated, I mean new story.

I just want the game to be good. the only thing i need "tied up" is gwen's story and possibly some additional twist to the Prophecies story. Factions wasn't as mysterious and fairly easy to understand.

Perhaps the real Khilbron did, but if I'm not mistaken the "Khilbron" we encounter in the Prophicies storyline was just the Lich in disguise...?
